Blatant Copy Cat

I am weak, when I see something pretty, I have to have it.  Hence my unruly yarn stash and my growing fabric stash.  At the weekend I saw something incredibly pretty and had to have that too.  It was a Daybreak Shawl by Stephen West.  It wasn't an ordinary Daybreak Shawl through, it was one made with Jawoll Magic Sock Yarn.  I happen to have a skein of Jawoll Magic Sock yarn in the unruly stash.  It is very pretty.

All I needed to do was find another skein to compliment it.  Where did I happen to be on Saturday, when I saw this very inspiring shawl?  It was the very same shop I bought the above skein at, Create and Knit, in Breedon on the Hill.  It was a piece of cake to find a contrasting skein.  Look what I have to play with now.

Don't they work well together?  I think they do.  Oh by the way, can you see the difference in the two yarn photos?  The first one was taken last year, the second one, was taken this week.  My photos are definitely improving.

So now I have these two lovely skeins of yarn, and I decided to cast on straight away for my copy cat shawl.  I call it copy cat, because it a direct copy of my friend Litlemouse's lovely shawl.  If you are on Ravelry, you can see it here.

I can't wait to add the second skein and get striping!  This shawl pattern is pretty straight forward but if you add graduated coloured yarn in stripes, to me, that is a pattern that can't fail!
