See how happy I am to finally get this pattern released!
This purple version of the Refraction Shawlette was knit with Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply, which is a gorgeous merino/silk sock/fingering weight yarn. I am quite a loose knitter so this shawl is a little bigger than some done by my test knitters. It measures 54" x 26", which is generous size for a shawlette. The same effect could probably be created by going up a needle size to 3.75mm, from the recommended needle size of 3.5mm, though that might cause a yarn shortage.
Knit at the regular gauge, as this one was, this shawlette will make a lovely warm and luxurious neck warmer!
The name of the shawlette was decided upon because small diamonds sit within larger diamonds, and eventually "refract" into lacy diamonds before ending with lacy points.
The pattern is written out in full and charted so you can choose your favourite method of knitting lace patterns. All the lace is knitted on the right side of the shawlette, to make it easy to read the pattern you are creating, which helps avoid mistakes (and gives you a break!).
This project helps find a use for that single, glorious skein of sock yarn you have hoarded in your stash, so you can wear it around your neck with pride. Testers used Malabrigo Sock, Wollmeise Twin, Quince Tern, Cascade Heritage Silk and others, successfully, to create their own lovely Refraction Shawlettes.
Many thanks go out to my lovely testers, who spent their valuable time helping me out. You should really check out their lovely projects. Without testers, patterns would be a great deal more wonky on release!
This discount is live now and will end at midnight UK time on Friday 27th September 2013, after which the code won't work.
I'm quite proud of the Refraction Shawlette and I hope you like it too. Please let me know if you make the pattern. You could even post photos on the Facebook Page so we can all see your hard work.
