Wednesday Update

As it is Wednesday, the now traditional day for updating you on my projects, I bring you WIP Wednesday and the link to all the delights that you can reach, through the big button you can click on below.

It feels like I don't have much progress to show you this week, which is strange, because I haven't felt like I've been twiddling my thumbs.  The only explanation is the big time suck that is the baby blanket.  I have made so little progress, I will not show you the results of my frustrations, I will move straight on to the socks of brown.

Look there is a pattern!  After planning on doing something clever and lacy I decided that I would stick to my original intention of knitting socks from the book Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters, by Cat Bordhi.  I settled on a simple, yet effective, purl and rib pattern.  This sock pattern is called Inlaid Pennants.  This particular sock pattern is meant to only go on the leg of the sock, so it worked out well.

It's quite hard to capture the pattern through photography because of  the brown-ness of the yarn.  But hopefully you get the idea of the sort of zig zag shape of the stocking stitch.

It still feels strange leaving the heel open, but I know it works doing it last of all.  I still love my original Discovery Socks and wear them whenever they are clean.  I can't wait to add to my collection of hand knitted and well fitted socks.

The other thing on my needles to update you on, is my Central Park Hoodie.  I now have all the pieces blocked, some bits are blocked better than others though.

As you can see, the two fronts look quite different.  I think this is because I blocked them at a different time.  I won't make this mistake again.

See how the sleeves, which were blocked at the same time, pretty much are the same shape.  Never mind, hopefully when it is sewn together it will sort itself out.

Now I have all the bits, I can sew up the shoulders and start knitting the hood and the button bands.

I'm quite excited now that I feel I am getting close to finishing this project.  I really want to crack on with it now.  Hopefully you will see a real progress on this project soon, that is if I don't break myself on the baby blanket......
